Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using SpendPal: Money Manager (the "App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

These Terms form a binding agreement between you and HAW Labs, an Ontario corporation ("we", "us", "our").

2. Description of Service

SpendPal is a personal finance tracking app for iOS that allows you to manage spending across multiple credit cards and bank accounts, import transactions via screenshot OCR, set budgets, and track spending trends.

Free Tier

The free version of SpendPal provides limited features and includes banner advertisements served by Google AdMob.

Premium Tier

SpendPal Premium unlocks all features and removes ads via an auto-renewing in-app subscription, currently priced at approximately $4.99 CAD/month (pricing may vary). Subscriptions are managed entirely through Apple's App Store and are subject to Apple's Terms and Conditions.

3. User Responsibilities

By using SpendPal, you agree to:

  • Take responsibility for the accuracy of all data you enter or import into the App
  • Use the App only for lawful personal finance tracking purposes
  • Not use the App in any way that violates applicable federal, provincial, or local law or regulation
  • Not attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or derive the source code of the App
  • Not attempt to circumvent, disable, or interfere with any security features of the App
  • Not use the App to transmit any harmful, offensive, or unlawful content

4. Intellectual Property

The App, its design, code, trademarks, and all associated content are the exclusive property of HAW Labs and are protected by copyright and other applicable intellectual property laws. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

You retain full ownership of all personal data you enter into the App. By using the App, you do not grant HAW Labs any rights to your personal financial data. We do not access, view, or use your financial data in any way.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, HAW Labs expressly disclaims all warranties, including but not limited to:

  • Implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement
  • Any warranty that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components

SpendPal's OCR import feature uses optical character recognition to extract data from screenshots. We do not guarantee the accuracy of OCR-extracted data. You are responsible for verifying that imported transactions are correct before relying on them.

SpendPal is a personal finance tracking tool. We are not a financial advisor, and the App does not provide financial advice. Nothing in the App constitutes financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Always consult a qualified professional for such matters.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, HAW Labs shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the App.

HAW Labs is not liable for any financial decisions you make based on data displayed in the App. You use the App's data at your own discretion and risk.

In any case, our total cumulative liability to you for any claims arising from your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App or subscription during the 12 months immediately preceding the claim.

7. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the App, without notice or liability, for any reason, including if we believe you have violated these Terms.

You may stop using the App at any time. To cancel a Premium subscription, go to Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → SpendPal → Cancel Subscription on your iPhone. You will retain Premium access until the end of the current billing period.

Upon termination, all provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive will survive, including intellectual property provisions, disclaimers of warranty, and limitations of liability.

8. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario, Canada.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and may notify you through the App. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
